CREATIVE JOURNALING

Anne-Marie JobinThe Creative Journaling method includes about forty different techniques drawn from creative writing and art therapy. The combinations between the techniques are infinite. It is a a way to keep a journal that awakens the creative process, helps to get out of the mind and gives concrete ways to overcome blocks. If you are keeping a journal but feel stuck; if you are looking for new ways to enliven your work; if you need to be more motivated to write or maybe start a journal, this method can help you. You don't need any special skills to enjoy Creative Journaling. Just start where you are!

Workshops:

In the Creative Journaling workshops, I teach the different techniques through themes that relate to the human experience,  such as self image, the body, emotions, dreams, creativity, etc. My goal is that after a workshop one is able to adapt the techniques to any question or problem he or she wants to address in the journal.

I published in 2002 a book in French on Creative Journaling "Le journal créatif: à la rencontre de Soi par l'art et l'écriture" (Éditions du Roseau). It includes some theory , about 40 techniques and over 150 exercises on different themes, and it ends with a section on traps and blocks encountered while writing a journal. You can order it in most bookstores or via the Éditions du Roseau website at http://www.roseau.ca

Creative Journaling workshops are offered in different formats, contact me for information. I am also available for conferences and intensive workshops for groups of over 10 people.

Try this:

My heart tells me: Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths, allow yourself to sink into your body and put your attention onto your heart, on your emotions. What is happening? What do you feel right now? Are there any colors or shapes that come to you? Take your time to feel what you feel and sense what comes. When you are ready, open your eyes and draw a very big heart on a piece of paper (use all the space you have). Fill it with colors, shapes, drawings which express what you feel. Then, flow write for 20 minutes starting with: "My heart tells me...".
